A VISION FOR THE FUTURE

A Landscape-Led Masterplan

Designed Around People, Place and Landscape

Our vision is to create a natural extension to Bransgore that reflects the village’s character while promoting healthy, sustainable living.

The emerging masterplan has been shaped by the existing landscape from the outset, with green infrastructure forming the foundation of the development rather than an afterthought. Existing trees, hedgerows, woodland, watercourses and ecological habitats have guided where new homes are located, creating a neighbourhood that sits naturally within its surroundings.

Inspired by traditional village lanes, farmsteads, rural architecture and the surrounding countryside, the proposals create a series of distinctive character areas connected by attractive green spaces, walkable streets and safe pedestrian and cycle routes. Wherever possible, existing landscape features will be retained and enhanced through extensive new planting, helping to create a greener environment for both people and wildlife.

A Lasting Legacy

The proposals will restore habitats, strengthen ecological networks and deliver at least a 10% Biodiversity Net Gain, while helping to protect nearby internationally important nature conservation sites. Generous green buffers, new woodland, meadow planting and open space will create a sensitive transition between Bransgore and the surrounding countryside, ensuring the development blends naturally into the landscape and respects local views and the character of Burley Road.

By putting landscape first, the proposals will create a distinctive, nature-rich neighbourhood that delivers lasting environmental, recreational and community benefits for Bransgore and future generations.

Illustrative Landscape Masterplan Key

  1. Woodland glades extending the habitat and character of Barrett’s Copse and to assist in screening views of the proposed development from the north west. The woodland blocks help to fragment the large field and delineate the footpath route. Additional woodland belt planting to the west of the development will help to filter and screen views of the proposals from the south west and north west. A gap in the woodland allows a view out to the wider countryside creating a sense of place.

  2. Hedgerow trees along the right of way will assist in filtering views of the proposed development from the south.

  3. Central greenway through the development providing a link to the existing settlement edge and right of way to the north and to the wider countryside to the south.

  4. Proposed LAP (Local Area of Play) within the development.

  5. Proposed LEAP (Local Equipped Area of Play) accessible to both the proposed and existing residents of Bransgore forming part of the greenway link.

  6. SuDS corridor with native scrub, tree planting and long grassland creating a strong east-west habitat structure framing the northern development edge.

  7. Frequently mown grass for dog exercise and recreation.

  8. Dog dip pond.

  9. Parkland character with large specimen trees and long grassland meadows.

  10. Areas of open wet meadow within the flood zone.

  11. Tree and structure planting along the site’s eastern boundary to strengthen the tree belt along the existing residential boundaries.

  12. Open short mown grass for amenity and recreational uses.

  13. Network of looping footpaths through the SANG and wider open space providing direct access from the proposed development and western settlement edge of Bransgore.
